Tricorn at Treadgolds Film Club
A new film club from Tricorn Books at Treadgolds. Celebrating arthouse cinema, world cinema, cult classics and book to film adaptations. Films that sit slightly to the side of the mainstream and stay with you long after the lights come up.
Four strands. One club.
Each season we will build a programme that moves between genres and countries but always feels connected. Expect a mix of unfamiliar titles and discoveries. Every screening will be introduced with a short overview on why it matters and how it relates to books, culture or the wider world.
Arthouse cinema
Intimate, visually distinctive films that reward attention. Character led stories, bold directing choices and cinema that feels handcrafted.
World cinema
Films from outside the usual English language circuit. Different cultures, different rhythms, new ways of seeing familiar subjects.
Cult classics
The odd, beloved and unforgettable. Films that may have missed the crowds but found a loyal following and deserve a big screen.
Book to film
Adaptations that began on the page. A chance to compare text and screen and talk about what is gained, lost and transformed.
Why Tricorn at Treadgolds
Tricorn Books has always sat where stories, readers and creatives meet. Treadgolds is a community space with history in its walls. Together they make a natural home for a small, friendly film club that is curious about cinema in all its forms.
The club is for people who like the idea of watching something a little different in good company rather than ticking off the latest big release.
How the club will work
- Monthly or seasonal screenings at Treadgolds Warehouse in Portsea.
- Small audience numbers so the space remains relaxed and comfortable.
- Short informal introduction before each film with space to chat afterwards.
- Simple, low cost ticketing with advance booking to manage numbers.
