Independent, individual and designed around the author.

Every manuscript is different. Our role is to provide the editorial, design and production expertise needed to shape it into a credible, professionally produced book—without taking away the author’s voice or control.

“A supportive publishing route should make the process clearer—not make the author feel more overwhelmed.”

The Wren Press is for women writing fiction, memoir, family history, poetry, practical books and other projects that deserve thoughtful, individual treatment.

How we can help

Bring us the manuscript as it is.

We assess what the project actually needs before recommending services. This may be a light proofread and design package, or a more substantial editorial and production programme.

01

Editorial support

Manuscript assessment, editing and proofreading using UK English, with the level of intervention agreed before work begins.

02

Book design

Professional cover design, typography and interior page layout created for the subject, audience and physical format of the book.

03

Print and publication

Print-ready artwork, proof copies, print management and appropriate publication support, with costs clearly explained.

A clear route forward

What happens after you enquire.

You are not committing to publication by completing the form. The initial conversation is simply a chance to understand the book and decide whether we are the right fit.

Stage one

You tell us about the book

Complete the short form below. A full manuscript is not required for an initial enquiry.

Stage two

We review the information

A member of the publishing team considers the project and identifies any questions we need to ask.

Stage three

We arrange a conversation

We discuss your aims, readership, manuscript stage, timescale and the type of book you want to create.

Stage four

You receive a clear proposal

The proposal sets out the recommended work, deliverables, responsibilities, costs and payment stages.

Stage five

Editorial and design begin

Work proceeds through agreed stages, with proofs and opportunities for author review built into the process.

Stage six

Your book is produced

Once approved, the book moves into final artwork, proofing, print and the agreed publication route.

Clearer pricing

Know what you are paying for.

Every quotation is based on the manuscript, page extent, format and level of editorial work required. We explain what is included before the project starts.

  • A written scope and production plan
  • Agreed number of proof and amendment stages
  • Transparent payment schedule
  • Printing quoted separately when specifications are known
  • No obligation following the initial conversation

Low-pressure first contact

What you can expect from us.

The enquiry process is designed for first-time authors as well as experienced writers. You will receive practical guidance, not publishing jargon or a hard sell.

A human response

Your enquiry is read by the publishing team rather than passed through an automated sales sequence.

A sensible next step

We explain whether the manuscript appears ready for design, requires editing first, or would benefit from further development.

A decision you control

You can consider the proposal without obligation and decide whether the route, cost and timetable are right for you.
