Hope’s Truth @ Waterstones

Author, Stuart Olds enjoys a series of book signings at Waterstones with his debut novel. As a first time author he is still giggling with delight at the success of his first latest outing at Waterstones in Fareham, where he sold 75 copies on a Saturday afternoon.

Children’s book series
, ‘Clever Freddie the Mischievous Fox’, by John Bannell,
have just arrived from the printers and shout ‘pick me up and buy me’, very
loudly.  Beautifully and originally illustrated by the equally beautifully
named, Raphelina Bonito, they tell of Freddie’s adventures in the allotment
gardens, all of which are based on real incidents.  Top gardening tips and a
recipe using home grown produce, are also featured in each one. Priced £5.99
individually or £25 for the box set of 6, they are a great buy. John will be
signing books and chatting about his inspiring friend in Waterstones,
Fareham on Saturday 25th June.

Collective Publishing – Anthologies and Portfolios.

Whether you are a member of a writing, photographic or other group, haven’t you ever thought how great it would be to have a all that hard work published and on the shelves of your local book shop, on Amazon’s listings or stacked up on a table at your annual exhibition with you signing copies? Self-publishing allows you to do that, and if done as a collective, is more affordable and ultimately profitable. Publishing this way, allows you to retain control of your work, rights and most importantly the profits. So, contact us to find out the next step.

Maximise profits by Self Publishing

Set up for new, ‘indie’, academic or established authors, Tricorn Books allows you to publish your book whilst retaining control - and all the profits!

As specialists in self-publishing we offer opportunities for those who have something to say and want to have their work in the public domain.  With the way printing particularly has developed, and marketing opportunities proliferated, self-publishing has become increasingly accessible and popular, which is great news for authors - even established mainstream ones, like thriller writer, Barry Eisler.

He made headlines in March when he turned down a two-book deal with St. Martin's Press worth $500,000 in favour of self-publishing.  Why? Because, his deals with traditional publishers typically gave him 17.5% of the retail price of the book, while self-publishing have netted him around 70%.

We work with a wide range of writers, across different genres to design, produce and publish titles, for a fixed fee.  We then negotiate the best possible price for printing the books, print manage the whole process and you pay for as many or as few you want – whether that is 1 book or 1,000 - and don't forget - get to keep all the profit!

Most of our books are available via Amazon at http://www.amazon.co.uk/shops and through WHSmiths on-line: WH Smiths (click to order)

"If anyone out there is considering publishing their book, I can thoroughly recommend contacting Gail and Dan of Tricorn Books. After trying unsuccessfully for two years to find a publisher for Thomas Ellis Owen Shaper of Portsmouth, 'Father of Southsea' (one kept it for a year, another lost it!) I really needed their upbeat, can-do approach. They were very patient as well and more than ready to guide and work with me and Tim (the photographer) to ensure it was a book we could all be proud of. Now I'm really looking forward to holding it in my hands and hoping other people will enjoy it too." Sue Pike

Artists' books

Not being affected by the threat of electronic media and it could be argued, produced as a reaction to it are Artists’ Books; personal publications created, rather than designed, by artists where new ideas can be tried and the books treasured as beautiful objects.Produced in limited editions, they depend on illustration, exquisite materials and a process of attention to detail and decision. This does come at a cost, but means that if you can’t afford to produce or buy a work of art, you can afford to produce or buy a book - as a work of art.We are currently working with James Flavell, Isle of Wight master book binder to offer this specialized service
